Tasting Notes

This vintage of Antiquum Pinot Noir has a lively ruby color. The nose bursts with scents of just ripe strawberry, black tea, black cherry and leather, making way for an opulent and velvety mouthfeel with flavors of plum, black currant, licorice and cinnamon.

Vineyard Notes

The 2013 growing season began with a warm spring which allowed early growth to progress nicely. Bud break and bloom occurred ahead of the area average and the pleasant spring progressed into a sunny and mild summer. Near ideal conditions for most of the summer allowed vine growth and grape development to progress rapidly. Brief rainfall in August dissipated quickly and the weather remained superb until late September when harvest was temporarily halted due to heavy rains. After the rain subsided, a warm, Indian summer took us through the remainder of harvest.

Production Notes

The Antiquum Vineyard is a family owned and perated site located at 800ft elevation in the Willamette Valley, 35 miles north of King Estate in Junction City. Planted in Bellpine soil, the vineyard has great southern exposure and is known for consistently producing ripe, clean, distinctive fruit. Like King Estate, the vineyard is LIVE certified, and owner Stephen Hagen practices extremely low input farming. He and his team of Belgian horses manage the vineyard with minimal help from mechanized tractors or inputs that don’t originate from the farm
